  • The poverty rate for children has steadily decreased
  • Alcohol consumption for both adults and youth has decreased over time
  • Mason County is ranked among the least healthy counties in the state. Since the last CHA, we have become more unhealthy
  • The rate of premature death has increased
  • Access to healthcare is a huge barrier in the county and many residents must find healthcare outside of the county
  • Drug overdose deaths have sharply increased
  • Food insecurity rates remain higher than those of the state
  • Teen birth rates in the county are double the rates of the state
